Doug Albers Sr. grew up in Kansas City, where he attended Rockhurst High School. Doug’s upbringing instilled in him a deep sense of service, community, and faith, all of which continue to impact his life today. Doug has instilled these values in his children throughout their lives. After completing high school, Doug Albers earned a Bachelor of Science from Kansas State University. He went on to complete his studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy in 1977.
Prior to completing his studies, Doug’s entrepreneurial spirit came to the forefront. The year prior to graduating with his pharmacy degree, Doug Albers established his own pharmacy. For the next 32 years, Doug led its growth, focusing on excellence in service and professionalism. In 2008, he elected to sell his business to two employees. The business has expanded and is still operating as Albers Pharmacy today. He then joined a friend and pharmacy school classmate at MedTrak Services, a company in which he had originally invested to get it off the ground. As the Executive Vice President of Trade Relations, Doug managed contracting with all vendor partners. These included massive retailers like Walmart, Walgreens, Target, and CVS, as well as thousands of independent pharmacies all over the country. An investment group acquired MedTrak in 2014, at which point Doug Albers retired from his role. Doug is still active in the sector as an investor partner with MRx Ventures. He also is a partner in Tria Health, which focuses on resolving the high costs and health risks associated with the mismanagement of medication.
