CARE

One of the world’s first private international humanitarian organizations, CARE is dedicated to helping women and girls in struggling communities around the world improve their lives. This organization was founded in the United States in 1945 to provide relief to survivors of World War II and has since become an organization that works to defeat poverty, save lives and achieve social justice globally. Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders works to deliver emergency medical aid around the world to people who are affected by disaster, conflict, epidemics or exclusion from health care. This organization was originally founded in Paris, France in 1971 and was brought to the US in 1990. Now, Doctors Without Borders has 24 associations globally. This organization believes in helping people where the need is greatest. Some of the ways that Doctors Without Borders has impacted the world is by performing surgery in war zones, working on a burn unit in Port-au-Prince and vaccinating for cholera around the world. You can get involved with Doctors Without Borders by working hands on as a doctor, working in the office or donating to the organization.

 

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)

The United Nations Children’s Fund, better known as UNICEF, works in 190 countries and territories to provide protection for every child. For 70 years, UNICEF has worked to improve the lives of children and their families by defending their rights. From nutrition to education, UNICEF strives to provide all children with what they need to live a happy and healthy life. Hunger Plus, Inc.

Hunger Plus, Inc. is a nonprofit relief agency that provides food and related supplies to those in need in case of emergency. In order to fulfill its mission in the most effective way possible, Hunger Plus has partnered with a number of organizations, such as USDA, USAID, World In Need, Rotary, Rotary Action Groups on Alleviation of Hunger and Malnutrition and Disaster Relief, transportation companies, missions and churches, private volunteer organizations, food distributors and a number of individuals who are passionate about the cause. Hunger Plus has helped in every continent besides Antarctica, but its efforts are currently focused in the U.S. as well as South and Central America. Save the Children

Save the Children works in the United States and around the world to help children in need live the lives they deserve. This organization works to protect children from harm, give them a healthy start to their lives, and provide them with the opportunity to learn. This organization is a member of the International Save the Children Alliance, made up of 27 national Save the Children organizations working in over 100 countries.
